On the Search for a Place to Call Home

We didn’t spend much time ashore before setting off along the docks, wandering through marinas in search of the right floating home to call our own.

It didn’t take long before we found her—Dali, a Bavaria 38. From the glistening stainless steel anchor chain to the spotless engine, every detail speaks to how well she’s been cared for. She’s also privately owned rather than a charter boat, which typically means far less wear and tear.

Although she was only the second boat we looked at, before jumping to make an offer we did our due diligence and looked at a few others to ensure we weren’t falling head over heels too quickly.  We spent a week driving up and down the beautiful Dalmatian coast, trying to enjoy the sights from the seats of our rental while we sped to make it in time for boat viewings. We stepping aboard everything from Dufour 32s to Jeanneau Sun Odysseys, as well as other Bavarias. After encountering our fair share of oily bilges and musty cabins, many priced similarly to Dali, we knew we needed to jump on making an offer, as she was the one…..we hope!
